A commitment to environmental leadership
As a multinational corporation and a leader in our industry, we have a responsibility to be a good environmental steward on a global scale. It’s the right thing to do, and it’s critical to the future of our business.
We have a long history of environmental stewardship, but in recent years we’ve increased our efforts through a formal program sponsored by our CEO. Our Sustainability Initiative, launched in 2007, is focused on reducing our consumption of non-renewable resources, eliminating waste and adopting behavioral changes that support long-term environmental sustainability.
Many of our efforts are aimed at dramatically reducing our greenhouse gas emissions, a key factor in global climate change. We set a goal of reducing our total carbon footprint by 20 percent over five years -- and in less than two years we’re well on our way to reaching it. We’ve also cut our water consumption by millions of gallons each year, and are researching and using new bioplastic polymers in our products.
