Species Reactivity Key Applications Host Format Antibody Type
H Chromatin Immunoprecipitation (ChIP), IC, IF, IP, WB Mouse Purified Monoclonal Antibody
UniProt Number:
UniProt Summary
FUNCTION: SwissProt: P01106 # Participates in the regulation of gene transcription. Binds DNA both in a non-specific manner and also specifically to recognizes the core sequence 5'-CAC[GA]TG-3'. Seems to activate the transcription of growth-related genes.
SIZE: 439 amino acids; 48804 Da
SUBUNIT: Efficient DNA binding requires dimerization with another bHLH protein. Binds DNA as a heterodimer with MAX. Interacts with TAF1C and SPAG9. Interacts with PARP10. Interacts

Entrez Gene Number:
Entrez Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene is a multifunctional, nuclear phosphoprotein that plays a role in cell cycle progression, apoptosis and cellular transformation. It functions as a transcription factor that regulates transcription of specific target genes. Mutations, overexpression, rearrangement and translocation of this gene have been associated with a variety of hematopoietic tumors, leukemias and lymphomas, including Burkitt lymphoma. There is evidence to show that alternative translation ini ... see more »

Description:
Anti-Myc Tag, clone 4A6
Background Information:
Epitope tags are useful for the labeling and detection of proteins using immunoblotting, immunoprecipitation and immunostaining techniques. Due to their small size, they are unlikely to affect the tagged protein's biochemical properties.
The Myc epitope tag is widely used to detect expression of recombinant proteins in bacteria, yeast, insect and mammalian cell systems.
Clone:
4A6
Specificity:
Recognizes recombinant proteins containing the Myc epitope tag (EQKLISEEDL) in a variety of sequence contexts; also recognizes human Myc.
Key Applications:
  • Chromatin Immunoprecipitation (ChIP)
  • Immunocytochemistry
  • Immunofluorescence
  • Immunoprecipitation
  • Western Blotting
Species Reactivity:
Human
Isotype:
IgG
Immunogen:
peptide corresponding to amino acids 410-420 (MEQKLISEEDL) of human Myc
Molecular Weight:
Predicted MW for human Myc: 49 kDa
Control:
Positive control for human Myc: Widespread expression including A431 cell lysate, ovarian cancer cell lysate, or breast carcinoma tissue. Myc fusion protein expressed in cells.
