Protein/Isoform Description:
MPM-2 (mitotic protein monoclonal-2) is known industry wide as one of the most versatile phospho-serine/threonine antibodies available because of its ability to recognize more than 40 mitotic phosphoproteins. Upon entry into M (Mitosis) phase, many proteins are phosphorylated either directly or indirectly by M-phase-promoting factor (MPF). Mitotic Protein Monoclonal 2 is an antibody which recognizes a phospho-epitope present in a large number of proteins, primarily during G2 and M phases of the cell cycle. While no true pan-phospho-serine or -threonine antibody has ever been produced, MPM-2 recognizes a wide variety of sites, most proline-directed, and is therefore suitable for the non-radioactive detection of many phospho-serines and -threonines.
