Anti-XRCC2

Species Reactivity Key Applications Host Format Antibody Type
H, M IH(P), WB, IC Rabbit Affinity Purified Polyclonal Antibody
Description:
Anti-XRCC2
Specificity:
This antibody recognizes XRCC2.
Molecular Weight:
~32 kDa
Immunogen:
A synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 206-217 of XRCC2.
Background Information:
X-ray repair cross-complementing protein (XRCC2) is a member of the RecA family which is essential for DNA repair and maintenance. XRCC2 also belongs to the Rad51 subfamily of proteins involved in double stranded DNA break repair. XRCC2 is thought to encode a member of the RecA/Rad51 related protein family which maintains chromosome stability and repairs DNA damage. XRCC2 and RAD51 interact to form a multimeric ring in the absence of DNA. XRCC2 is thought to load Rad51 onto gapped DNA.
Species Reactivity:
  • Human
  • Mouse
Species Reactivity Note:
Tested on human and mouse.
Application Notes:
Immunocytochemistry:
Anti-XRCC2 polyclonal was used in immunocytochemistry to positively stain the nucleus on A431, NIH/3T3 and HeLa cells.

Immunohistochemistry(paraffin): Anti-XRCC2 antibody was used for immunohistochemistry on human lung tissue.
Formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded Human lung tissue stained with anti-XRCC2 (1:100) with Citrate pH 6.0 (HIER).
Control:
Jurkat cell lysate, human lung, NIH/3T3, A431, HeLa cells.
Quality Assurance:
Western Blot Analysis:
1:500 dilution of this antibody detected XRCC2 in 10 µg of a Jurkat cell lysate.
Purification Method:
Affinity purified polyclonal precipitated in ammonium sulfate.
Presentation:
Rabbit polyclonal precipitated antibody in a solution of 50% saturated ammonium sulfate and PBS containing no preservatives
Storage Conditions:
Stable for 1 year at -20°C from date of receipt.
Handling Recommendations: Upon first thaw, and prior to removing the cap, centrifuge the vial and gently mix the solution. Aliquot into microcentrifuge tubes and store at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles, which may damage IgG and affect product performance.

Unless otherwise stated in our catalog or other company documentation accompanying the product(s), our products are intended for research use only and are not to be used for any other purpose, which includes but is not limited to, unauthorized commercial uses, in vitro diagnostic uses, ex vivo or in vivo therapeutic uses or any type of consumption or application to humans or animals.
Entrez Gene Summary:
This gene encodes a member of the RecA/Rad51-related protein family that participates in homologous recombination to maintain chromosome stability and repair DNA damage. This gene is involved in the repair of DNA double-strand breaks by homologous recombination and it functionally complements Chinese hamster irs1, a repair-deficient mutant that exhibits hypersensitivity to a number of different DNA-damaging agents. [provided by RefSeq].
Key Applications:
  • Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin)
  • Western Blotting
  • Immunocytochemistry
UniProt Summary:
FUNCTION: Involved in the homologous recombination repair (HRR) pathway of double-stranded DNA, thought to repair chromosomal fragmentation, translocations and deletions. The BCDX2 complex binds single-stranded DNA, single-stranded gaps in duplex DNA and specifically to nicks in duplex DNA. Ref.6

SUBUNIT STRUCTURE: Interacts with RAD51D. Part of a BCDX2 complex consisting of RAD51B, RAD51C, RAD51D and XRCC2. Part of a complex consisting of RAD51B, RAD51C, RAD51D, XRCC2 and XRCC3. In the absence of DNA, XRCC2-RAD51D formed a multimeric ring structure. In the presence of single-stranded DNA, XRCC2-RAD51D formed a filamentous structure.

SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Nucleus.

PTM: Phosphorylated upon DNA damage, probably by ATM or ATR. Ref.10

SIMILARITY: Belongs to the recA family. RAD51 subfamily.
