Protein/Isoform Description:
Csk (c-terminal c-Src kinase) is a non-receptor tyrosine kinase that negatively regulates members of the Src-family of protein kinases by phosphorylation of a c-terminal tyrosine residue (Tyr527 in Src), which then associates with the Src-family kinase SH2 domain. The activity of Csk is essential to maintain Src-family kinases inactive, as mutation of the Csk site results in a constitutively active Src-family kinase, and Src-family kinases expressed in Sf9 cells are fully activated, as Sf9 cells lack Csk.
