HIF-1α Protein, 250 μg
Description:
HIF-1α
Trade Name:
Upstate (Millipore)
Qty/Pk:
250 µg
Background Information:
HIF-1α is the oxygen sensitive subunit of the hypoxia inducible factor HIF-1 which is an essential mediator of the cellular oxygen-signalling pathway. Under hypoxic conditions HIF-1α activates the transcription of over 40 genes, including those that control glucose uptake, metabolism, angiogenesis, erythropoiesis, cell proliferation, and apoptosis. The expression of HIF-1α is commonly increased in a variety of human tumours, and correlates with poor patient prognosis. Under normoxia this protein interacts with the ubiquitin ligase VHL complex, leading to its polyubiquitination and subsequent proteasomal degradation.
Applications:
250 µg of HIF-1α. Recombinant human HIF-1α amino acids 331-609, N-terminal c-Myc, GST-tagged. For use in Enzyme Assays. Functions as a substrate in ubiquitination assays.
