Anti-Aquaporin 4

Recommended Replacement for: Cat. # AB3068
Species Reactivity Key Applications Host Format Antibody Type
R WB Rabbit Affinity Purified Polyclonal Antibody
Description:
Anti-Aquaporin 4
Replaces:
Cat. # AB3068
Trade Name:
Chemicon (Millipore)
Specificity:
Recognizes Aquaporin 4.
Molecular Weight:
~34 kDa
Epitope:
C-Terminus
Immunogen:
Synthetic Linear Peptide
Background Information:
The water-specific channel Aquaporin 4 is located in various tissues including the gastro intestinal tract, kidney and brain. It is an osmoreceptor which regulates body water balance and mediates water flow within the central nervous system. The localization of AQ4 to astrocyte endfeet makes it an excellent marker for astrocyte distal processes.
Species Reactivity:
Species Reactivity Note:
The antibody has not yet been tested for cross-reactivity to other species.

The immunogen shows 94% similarity to mouse, 88% to bovine, 86% to rabbit and 82% to human AQP4 (hAQP4).
Application Notes:
Western Blotting: 0.5-1 μg/mL using Chemiluminescence technique.

Optimal working dilutions must be determined by end user.

Unless otherwise stated in our catalog or other company documentation accompanying the product(s), our products are intended for research use only and are not to be used for any other purpose, which includes but is not limited to, unauthorized commercial uses, in vitro diagnostic uses, ex vivo or in vivo therapeutic uses or any type of consumption or application to humans or animals.
Entrez Gene Summary:
This gene encodes a member of the aquaporin family of intrinsic membrane proteins that function as water-selective channels in the plasma membranes of many cells. The encoded protein is the predominant aquaporin found in brain. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been found for this gene.
