M WB Rabbit Purified Polyclonal Antibody
Description:
Anti-CRIM1
Specificity:
Cat. # AB2249 recognizes extracellular domain of CRIM1.
Molecular Weight:
100 kDa
Epitope:
Extracellular Domain
Immunogen:
Synthetic Linear Peptide
Background Information:
Motor neurons are among the earliest neurons to appear after the commencement of cell patterning and the beginning of cell differentiation. Differentiation occurs in a ventral-to-dorsal gradient and is mediated, at least in part, by the concentration of ventrally expressed sonic hedgehog protein (SHH; MIM 600725). Dorsally expressed factors, such as members of the bone morphogenic protein (e.g., BMP4; MIM 112262) and transforming growth factor-beta (e.g., TGFB1; MIM 190180)
families, can repress the induction of these neurons. CRIM1 may interact with growth factors implicated in motor neuron differentiation and survival (Kolle et al., 2000 [PubMed 10642437]).[supplied by OMIM]

UniProt Summary:
FUNCTION: May play a role in CNS development by interacting with growth factors implicated in motor neuron differentiation and survival. May play a role in capillary formation and maintenance during angiogenesis. Modulates BMP activity by affecting its processing and delivery to the cell surface (By similarity).
SUBUNIT: Interacts with BMP4 and BMP7 (By similarity).
SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein (By similarity).
SPECIFICITY: Expressed during embryonic development in brain, kidney, spinal chord, testis, lens, vibrissae, pinna, tooth primordia and in specific regions of the CNS. Expressed in adult lens. Displays male-specific expression in the fetal gonads with the strongest expression in the Sertoli cells of developing testis.
DEVELOPMENTAL STAGE: Detected in embryo at 11.5 dpc to 17.7 dpc with a maximum between 12.5 and 13.5 dpc.
SIMILARITY: Contains 4 antistasin-like domains.
SIMILARITY: Contains 1 IGFBP N-terminal domain.
