Collagen Type III, bovine purified protein

Description:
Collagen Type III, bovine purified protein
Trade Name:
Chemicon (Millipore)
Qty/Pk:
10 mg
Product Overview:
Molecular composition: a native triple helix, alpha1(III). Dissolved collagen retains the ability to form microfibrils, activate platelet aggregation and serve as a substrate for cell growth in culture.
Key Applications:
Cell Culture

Brand Family:
Chemicon
Source:
Bovine skin. Collagen is extracted from washed dissected tissue into dilute acetic acid after mild pepsin treatment.
Presentation:
Lyophilized protein containing no preservatives.

Recommended reconstitution instructions.
Add lyophilized collagen to 0.5 M acetic acid (3% glacial acetic acid v/v in water), 0.8 mL of solution to each mg of collagen.

Suspension should be shaken or stirred for several hours or overnight between 2-8°C. Material is dissolved when it appears homogeneous, with no schlieren pattern (light refraction due to differing protein concentrations in the suspension.)

Add acetic acid solution to dissolved collagen until solution is 1 mg/ml collagen. For large volumes, use a volumetric flask.
UniProt Number:
Storage Conditions:
Maintain lyophilized material at -20° C up to one year from date of receipt. Upon reconstitution, maintain at -20° C in undiluted aliquots. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Cell Culture Reagent Type:
Attachment Factors
Protein or Enzyme Type:
Extracellular Matrix Proteins
Product Name:
Collagen Type III, bovine purified protein
Concentration:
Starting concentration is recommended at 1 mg/mL
Purity:
90% by reduced SDS-PAGE. Contains 10% bovine collagen type I and < 0.5% non-collagen proteins. Structure of native collagen confirmed by ability to form microfibrils.
Purification Method:
Differential salt precipitation.
