Fibroblast Growth Factor acidic, recombinant human

Description:
Fibroblast Growth Factor acidic, recombinant human
Trade Name:
Chemicon (Millipore)
Product Overview:
Fibroblast Growth Factor-acidic (FGF-a) is a heparin binding growth factor which stimulates the proliferation of a wide variety of cells including mesenchymal, neuroectodermal and endothelial cells. Human FGF-acidic is a 15.8 kDa protein containing 140 amino acid residues.
Key Applications:
Cell Culture
Application Notes:
For most in vitro applications, FGF-a exerts its biological activity in the concentration range of 1.0 to 50 ng/mL. Responding cells are (partial list): Endothelial, mesenchymal cells.

Optimal working dilutions must be determined by end user.
Usage Statement:
Unless otherwise stated in our catalog or other company documentation accompanying the product(s), our products are intended for research use only and are not to be used for any other purpose, which includes but is not limited to, unauthorized commercial uses, in vitro diagnostic uses, ex vivo or in vivo therapeutic uses or any type of consumption or application to humans or animals.
Alternate Names:
FGF-1; alpha FGF
Cell Culture Reagent Type:
Cytokines & Growth Factors
Descriptive Text:
Stem Cell Workflow Stage:
  • Maintenance & Expansion
  • Differentiation
  • General Cell Culture
Presentation:
Sterile filtered. Lyophilized from 5mM Sodium Phosphate, pH 7.2 + 100mM NaCl.
Stem Cell Type:
  • Neural Stem Cells
  • Epithelial Progenitor Cells
  • Mesenchymal Stem Cells
  • Pancreatic Stem Cells
Purity:
Greater than 95% by SDS-PAGE and HPLC analysis. Endotoxin level is less than 0.1 ng per µg of FGF-a. Sterile filtered.
Specific Activity:
The ED50 as determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of thymidine uptake by BaF3 cells expressing FGF receptors is < 10.0 ng/mL, corresponding to a specific activity of > 1 x 10e5 units/mg.
Storage Conditions:
The lyophilized FGF-a, though stable at room temperature for a few weeks, is best stored at -20°C. Reconstitute in 5mM Sodium Phosphate, pH 7.0-7.2 to a concentration of >0.5 mg/mL. This solution can be diluted into other buffered solutions and stored at 4°C for 1 week or -20°C for future use. Reconstituted FGF-a should be stored in working aliquots at -20°C. Repeated freeze/thaw cycles will result in some loss of activity.
