Interleukin-4, recombinant human
Description:
Interleukin-4, recombinant human
Trade Name:
Chemicon (Millipore)
Product Overview:
Interleukin-4 (IL-4) is a potent lymphoid cell growth factor which stimulates the growth and survivability of certain B-cells and T-cells, recombinant human IL-4 is a 14.9 kDa protein containing 129 amino acid residues.
Key Applications:
Cell Culture
Application Notes:
For most in vitro applications, IL-4 exerts its biological activity in the concentration range of 0.1 to 10 ng/mL. Responding cells are (partial list): B-cells and certain T-cells.
Usage Statement:
Unless otherwise stated in our catalog or other company documentation accompanying the product(s), our products are intended for research use only and are not to be used for any other purpose, which includes but is not limited to, unauthorized commercial uses, in vitro diagnostic uses, ex vivo or in vivo therapeutic uses or any type of consumption or application to humans or animals.

Presentation:
Sterile filtered, lyophilized protein with no additives.
Stem Cell Type:
Hematopoietic Stem Cells
Purity:
Greater than 98% by SDS-PAGE and HPLC analysis. Endotoxin level is less than 0.1 ng per mg (1EU/µg) of IL-4.
Protein or Enzyme Type:
Cytokines & Growth Factors
Specific Activity:
Human IL-4 is fully biologically active when compared to standards. The ED50 as determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of human TF-1 cells is <= 0.2 ng/mL, corresponding to a specific activity of >= 5 x 10(E6) units/mg.
Species:
Human
Storage Conditions:
The lyophilized powder, though stable for a few weeks at room temperature, is best stored at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL. This solution can be diluted into other buffered solutions and stored at 4°C for 1 week or at -20°C for future use. Reconstituted IL-4 should be stored in undiluted aliquots at -20°C for up to six months.
