Anti-PAX8, clone 3G11

Species Reactivity Key Applications Host Format Antibody Type
H, M WB Mouse Culture Supernatant Monoclonal Antibody
Description:
Anti-PAX8, clone 3G11
Trade Name:
Chemicon (Millipore)
Molecular Weight:
43 kDa
Immunogen:
Recombinant human PAX8
Clone:
Isotype:
IgG2b
Background Information:
This gene is a member of the paired box (PAX) family of transcription factors. Members of this gene family typically encode proteins which contain a paired box domain, an octapeptide, and a paired-type homeodomain. This nuclear protein is involved in thyroid follicular cell development and expression of thyroid-specific genes. Mutations in this gene have been associated with thyroid dysgenesis, thyroid follicular carcinomas and atypical follicular thyroid adenomas. Alternate transcriptional splice variants, encoding different isoforms, have been characterized.
Species Reactivity:
  • Human
  • Mouse
Application Notes:
Optimal working dilutions must be determined by end user.
Presentation:
Liquid containing 0.1% sodium azide.

Key Applications:
Western Blotting
UniProt Summary:
FUNCTION: SwissProt: Q06710 # Transcription factor for the thyroid-specific expression of the genes exclusively expressed in the thyroid cell type, maintaining the functional differentiation of such cells.
SIZE: 450 amino acids; 48119 Da
SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Nucleus.
TISSUE SPECIFICITY: Expressed in the excretory system, thyroid gland and Wilms tumors.
DEVELOPMENTAL STAGE: In developing excretory system, during thyroid differentiation and in adult thyroid.
DISEASE: SwissProt: Q06710 # Defects in PAX8 are a cause of thyroid dysgenesis (TD) [MIM:218700]. TD is the most frequent cause of congenital hypothyroidism (CH). The thyroid gland can be absent (athyreosis), ectopically located (most often at the base of the tongue) and/or severely reduced in size (hypoplasia).
SIMILARITY: SwissProt: Q06710 ## Contains 1 paired domain.
