Isotype:
IgG2bκ
Background Information:
EVX-1 (also known as homeobox even-skipped homolog protein 1) belongs to a small family of vertebrate homeobox genes, comprised of EVX-1 and EVX-2, that have been shown to play an important role as transcriptional repressors during embryogenesis, and is induced by the presence of the FGF-4 growth factor. Expression of the EVX-1 gene during embryogenesis defines the V0 and V1 classes of ventral interneurons in the ventral spinal cord, proposing that EVX-1 may also serve as a potential drug target for patients who suffer from loss of locomotive coordination due to spinal cord injury or stroke. Further studies also indicate that both EVX-1 and EVX-2 are also involved in controling body plan formation, as well as play a crucial role in gastrulation, appendage and tailbud development, and the specification of other neuronal cell types.
Species Reactivity:
Human
Species Reactivity Note:
Proven to react with human.

Usage Statement:
Unless otherwise stated in our catalog or other company documentation accompanying the product(s), our products are intended for research use only and are not to be used for any other purpose, which includes but is not limited to, unauthorized commercial uses, in vitro diagnostic uses, ex vivo or in vivo therapeutic uses or any type of consumption or application to humans or animals.
Key Applications:
Western Blotting
Entrez Gene Summary:
This gene encodes a member of the even-skipped homeobox family characterized by the presence of a homeodomain closely related to the Drosophila even-skipped (eve) segmentation gene of the pair-rule class. The encoded protein may play an important role as a transcriptional repressor during embryogenesis. [provided by RefSeq]
UniProt Summary:
FUNCTION: May play a role in the specification of neuronal cell types.

SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Nucleus.

SEQUENCE SIMILARITIES: Belongs to the even-skipped homeobox family.

Contains 1 homeobox DNA-binding domain.
