UniProt Summary
FUNCTION: Proteoglycan playing a role in cell proliferation and migration which stimulates endothelial cells motility during microvascular morphogenesis. May also inhibit neurite outgrowth and growth cone collapse during axon regeneration. Cell surface receptor for collagen alpha 2(VI) which may confer cells ability to migrate on that substrate. Binds through its extracellular N- terminus growth factors, extracellular matrix proteases modulating their activity. May regulate MPP16-dependen

Entrez Gene Summary
extracellular matrix protein secreted by many cell types; member of the large chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan (CSPG) family; may be involved with angiogenesis -dependent processes such as wound healing or tumor growth [RGD]
Description:
Anti-NG2 Chondroitin Sulfate Proteoglycan
Background Information:
NG2 is a high molecular weight, integral membrane chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan. It is found on the surfaces of an unusual class of glial cells within the developing and mature central nervous system that have the properties of oligodendrocyte precursor cells (i.e., O-2A progenitor cells). NG2 is also found on the surfaces of chondroblasts, proliferating capillary endothelial cells, some human melanoma cell lines, and on leukemic blasts in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia. The NG2 proteoglycan is likely to play a role in regulation of cell motility, axon outgrowth and the cellular responses to platelet-derived growth factor.

Specificity:
NG2 Chondroitin Sulfate Proteoglycan. MAB5384 reacts with native, recombinant and protein from cells which express NG2.
