Description:
Anti-GREB1 Antibody, clone GREB1Ab | MABS62
Promotional Text:
Molecular Weight:
~ 216 kDa observed. Uncharacterized bands may be observed in some lysates.
Immunogen:
Recombinant protein corresponding to human GREB1.
Clone:
GREB1Ab
Isotype:
IgG1κ
Background Information:
GREB1, also known as gene regulated in breast cancer protein 1 is shown to be involved in the proliferation of breast cancer cells, controlled by estrogen. GREB1 has the potential to be a clinical marker for response to endocrine therapy and a therapeutic target. GREB1 also may be the regulator for prostate cancer.
Species Reactivity:
Human
Species Reactivity Note:
Demonstrated to react with human.
Application Notes:
Immunohistochemistry Analysis: 1:600 dilution from a previous lot detected GREB1 in prostate tissue.

Immunocytochemistry Analysis: A previous lot was used by an independent laboratory in IP. (Hnatyszyn, H., et al. 2009). Breast Cancer Res Treat
DOI 10.1007/s10549-009-0584-x.)
Control:
MCF-7 cell lysate
Quality Assurance:
Evaluated by Western Blot in MCF-7 cell lysate.

Western Blot Analysis: 0.5 µg/mL of this antibody detected GREB1 on 10 µg of MCF-7 cell lysate.
Purification Method:
Protein G
Presentation:
Purified mouse monoclonal IgG1κ in buffer containing 0.1 M Tris-Glycine (pH 7.4), 150 mM NaCl with 0.05% sodium azide.
Storage Conditions:
Stable for 1 year at 2-8°C from date of receipt.

Entrez Gene Summary:
This gene is an estrogen-responsive gene that is an early response gene in the estrogen receptor-regulated pathway. It is thought to play an important role in hormone-responsive tissues and cancer. Three alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq].
UniProt Summary:
FUNCTION: Unknown. Primary target for estrogen receptor regulation. Acts as a regulator of hormone-dependent cancer growth in breast and prostate cancers.

SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Membrane; Single-pass membrane protein (Potential).

TISSUE SPECIFICTY: Expressed in proliferating prostatic tissue and prostate cancer.

INDUCTION: Estrogen-responsive; regulated by estrogen receptors. Regulated by androgens. The regulatory region of the gene contains 3 estrogen-responsive elements.

SEQUENCE SIMILARITIES: Belongs to the GREB1 family.

SEQUENCE CAUTION: The sequence BAA25501.2 differs from that shown. Reason: Erroneous initiation.
