Can my system be upgraded to include TOC monitoring? » Answer
If you have a new Milli-Q system without TOC monitoring, an upgrade kit is available. A stand-alone TOC monitor is also available for use with older Milli-Q system.

How often does the TOC monitor need to be calibrated? » Answer

What is TOC? » Answer
Total Organic Carbon (TOC) or Total Oxidizable Carbon refers to the presence of organic contaminants in purified water. This single parameter takes into account the various organic substances that can be present in water and that is directly related to their concentration and nature.

Can a TOC monitor be calibrated? » Answer
Yes. Stand-alone monitors can be calibrated by returning them to the factory. Expired built-in units are replaced on-site by newly calibrated ones.

What kinds of problems are caused by high TOC in water? » Answer
High concentrations of organic substances in water may result in such problems as: poor detection limits, poor reproducibilty, chemical interference, fouling of separation or purification media, and toxicity for cell culture.
