Background Information:
AGP (α1-Acid Glycoprotein) is an acute phase protein secreted primarily from the liver. Abundant levels of AGP may be found in serum and plasma samples in response to various inflammatory triggers. Thus, AGP may play a significant role in further understanding disease states such as diabetes, obesity, inflammatory diseases and various immune disorders.
