Background Information:
Absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion (ADME) calculations are critical to all stages of a fully integrated drug development program and are used to augment the interpretation of toxicological findings. As toxicity has been found to be the leading cause of drug failure, this area of research is expanding in search of more sensitive, rapid methods for determining damage as quickly as possible. Renal toxicity, or drug induced damage to kidney cells, can result from drug excretion. The traditional methodology for determining renal toxicity has been to use the blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and serum creatinine. These two tests do not detect localized damage. Consequently, Millipore’s MILLIPLEXⓇ Human Kidney Magnetic Bead Panel 4 offers the advantage of speed and sensitivity, allowing quantitative multiplex detection of multiple analytes.
