Anti-ATG5, clone 177.19

Species Reactivity Key Applications Host Format Antibody Type
H WB, IP Mouse Purified Monoclonal Antibody
Description:
Anti-ATG5, clone 177.19
Specificity:
The antibody reacts with the 50 kDa ATG5 protein.
Molecular Weight:
50 kDa
Immunogen:
Linear Peptide, aa: 8-318
Clone:
177.19
Isotype:
IgG2bκ
Background Information:
ATG5 is required for autophagy. It conjugates to ATG12 and associates with isolation membrane to form autophagosomes. The conjugate detaches from the membrane immediately before or after autophagosome formation is completed. Conjugation to ATG12 is essential for autophagy, but is not required for association with isolation membrane. ATG5 also plays an important role in the apoptotic process. Its expression is a relatively late event in the apoptotic process, occurring downstream of caspase activity
Species Reactivity:
Human
Species Reactivity Note:
Reacts with human. Other species have not been tested.
Application Notes:
Immunoprecipitation: HeLa cell lysate
Control:
Western Blot and Immunoprecipitation: HeLa cell lysate.
Quality Assurance:
Western Blot Analysis: 0.5 ug/mL of this antibody detected ATG5 on HeLa cell lysate.

  • Western Blotting
  • Immunoprecipitation
UniProt Summary:
FUNCTION: Required for autophagy. Conjugates to ATG12 and associates with isolation membrane to form cup-shaped isolation membrane and autophagosome. The conjugate detaches from the membrane immediately before or after autophagosome formation is completed By similarity.
May play an important role in the apoptotic process, possibly within the modified cytoskeleton. Its expression is a relatively late event in the apoptotic process, occurring downstream of caspase activity.
SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Cytoplasm. Note= Colocalizes with nonmuscle actin.
TISSUE SPECIFICTY: Ubiquitous. The mRNA is present at similar levels in viable and apoptotic cells, whereas the protein is dramatically highly expressed in apoptotic cells.
INDUCTION: By apoptotic stimuli.
PTM: Conjugated to ATG12; which is essential for autophagy, but is not required for association with isolation membrane.
SEQUENCE SIMILARITIES: Belongs to the ATG5 family
