Intended Usage and Recommendations

Water for Cell Culture has been developed for laboratories requiring less than 50 L of water/year. Intended for research use only, it has been tested and is suitable for use in experiments requiring sterile, mycoplasma-free and pyrogen-free water.

For Large Volume Users

Laboratories using more than 1 L of ultrapure water per week should opt for a Millipore laboratory water purification system (such as the Milli-Q system), designed to provide larger volumes of water.

Millipore Water for Cell Culture* is ultrapure water that is prepared using our unique combination of knowledge and expertise in a variety of areas: water purification, sterilizing filtration; aseptic filling and sterility testing; biochemistry; and cell culture. When this knowledge is used to produce and control bottled water in an ISO 9001 / cGMP validated environment, it constitutes the warranty of an adequate solution for small-volume users.

Each product is delivered with a Certificate of Quality describing the test procedure, specifications and test results in detail. A complete Validation Guide is available upon request.

Traceability is made easy by a duplicate of the label that can be peeled off and affixed in a laboratory notebook for clear identification of water quality and lot number used in experiments.

Product Validation

Cell Culture suitability

Water for Cell Culture was validated by checking the viability of CHO-S cells in a culture medium produced using a lot of bottled water within specifications. The test protocol can be audited at the production site.
Frequency of the validation tests: yearly or if the process is modified.

Calcium- and Magnesium-free bottled water

To confirm that bottled water had a Ca and Mg level below 10 µg/L, tests were performed by ion chromatography on aged bottled water, using a Dionex® ICS-3000 with CS12 3 x 150 mm column, with a CG12 3 x 30 mm guard column, a CSRS 300 2 mm suppressor and a TCCULP1 pre-concentration loop for the analysis. Linear gradient 10 mM to 30 mM from T0 to T15 was used.
Frequency of the validation tests: yearly or if the process is modified.

Storage Conditions: 0 – 25°C
Use preferably less than two years after the manufacturing date.
