Bead-based Assays
Bead-based assays are an essential tool in the secondary
screening process, covering applications such as receptor/ligand studies,
enzyme assays, and immunological screens. In addition to secondary screening
assays, they are used in combinatorial chemistry applications, ADME/Tox, and
general sample prep prior to HPLC, mass spectrometry, and DNA sequencing.
MultiScreen plates are available in a wide range of membranes and
plastics making them the ideal tool for any application requiring a solid
support for reactions and separations to take place. MultiScreen Solvinert
plates have been specifically developed for compatibility with the solvents
needed for combinatorial chemistry bead cleavage steps. MultiScreen plates are
also available with low binding membranes for immunoassays.
All
MultiScreen plates have individual wells that eliminate cross-talk and allow
repeated filtrations and incubations. Particular assays may require specialized
membranes or plastics, depending on the reactants and detection methods chosen.
Details are included in the plate selection guide, .
Using the
MultiScreen Column Loader, a variety of soft gel, ion exchange, and reverse
phase resins can be loaded into the plate, 96 wells at a time, turning a
MultiScreen plate into 96 individual mini-columns.
Plates can also
be used as reaction vessels for applications utilizing beads as end-point
capture mechanisms or for multiplexing applications using Luminex LabMAP™
technology.
When working with solvents, MultiScreen Solvinert filter
plates are recommended for broadest chemical compatibility.
