Overview of the SNAP i.d.® Protein Detection System
Developed to meet the needs of our Western blotting
customers, the SNAP i.d. system produces blots of a very high quality every
time – in record time! Unique vacuum-driven technology and a built-in flow
distributor actively drive reagents through the membrane, ensuring even
distribution. Three different sizes of blot holders accommodate up to three
blots each, and two blot holders can be run in parallel. Thus, you can process
up to six blots at the same time, quickly optimize conditions and greatly
increase your protein detection throughput.
Typically, researchers
lack the time to optimize their blotting protocols. By shortening the time
required for blocking, washing and antibody incubations to 30 minutes, the SNAP
i.d. system allows you to optimize your immunodetection conditions for the
highest quality results.
The ordering tables below show how you can
easily obtain the SNAP i.d. system and its components. We look forward to
hearing about your research results once you have used your new tool for
Western blotting!
SNAP i.d. Hardware and Accessories
Your SNAP i.d. System includes a base with two independent
blot holder stations. Each side can run separately. In addition, Millipore
provides you with an integrated vacuum regulator to ensure consistent vacuum
pressure without the need for an external regulator.
Blot holders
are available in single, double, and triple sizes. Our antibody collection tray
is another useful accessory. You can also order a blot roller.
Other
useful items include: Chemical duty pumps (115 V/60 Hz) or (220 V/50 Hz), a
one-liter Vacuum filtering flask, Silicone No. 8 perforated stoppers (5 to a
pack) and stainless steel forceps.
Western Blotting Reagents
Millipore’s Western Blot Detection Kits are designed to
make the Western detection of proteins easy and economical. We offer an
excellent selection of reagents, including Bløk noise cancelling reagents
designed to minimize background in Western blots, increasing sensitivity for
superior detection of even low-abundance proteins. Bløk reagents are
protein-free, which reduces non-specific binding, especially when you are using
phosphoantibodies or avidin-biotin systems.
We also offer
Immobilion® Western HRP and AP Chemiluminescent Substrates that cost less than
the competition and provide higher sensitivity over a broad detection range.
This combination of versatility and value makes them the only substrates you
need for your Western blotting experiments.
Other offerings include
our Visualizer™ Spray & Glow ECL reagent that is suitable for normal to high
abundance proteins. Its spray-on format is easy to use with no mixing or
pipeting needed. We also offer Re-Blot Plus Western Blot Recycling Kits that
quickly and effectively remove antibodies from Western blots without
significantly affecting the immobilized proteins.
In addition, you
may wish to purchase ChemiBlot Molecular Weight Markers so you can estimate
molecular weight on SDS-PAGE and use as a positive control for Western blot.
Blotting Membranes
Millipore offers three varieties of PVDF transfer membranes, each optimized for different protein blotting applications: Immobilion®-P, Immobilion-PSQ, and Immobilion-FL. All have exceptional handling characteristics and are compatible with a variety of detection chemistries. We also offer blotting sandwiches with pre-cut sheets of membrane and blotting filter paper interleaved for your convenience.
