The Mammalian Cell Transfection Kit is an optimized system suitable for the introduction of DNA into mammalian cells. DNA is applied to the cells as a calcium phosphate precipitate. Transfected cells integrate and express the exogenous DNA at a higher efficiency, producing stable clones of the specifically altered genotype and phenotype. This system has been used to introduce various plasmids into a broad range of cell lines.
Transient Expression Transfection Kit
The Transient Expression Transfection Kit contains all of the necessary reagents to transfect DNA into mammalian cells as a DEAE Dextran-DNA complex. The DEAE dextran mediated transfection method is used for highly efficient transient expression of cloned genes. This method has been shown to be most effective in COS-7, COS-1 and CV-1 cells; however, a large number of additional lines have been successfully transfected using this method. These include: L-cells, GH-3, Vero, CHO and NIH 3T3 cells. Transfection of these other cell types requires modification of the protocol with respect to the time of incubation of cells with DEAE dextran-DNA-media and chloroquine.
