Osteogenesis Quantitation Kit

Screening candidate osteogenic compounds can be facilitated by using the Osteogenesis Quantitation Assay Kit. This assay works with any in vitro model of osteogenesis e.g. MC3T3-E1 cells, the osteoblastic UMR 106-01 BSP cell line, stromal stem cells from dental pulp, mesenchymal stem cells, and embryonic stem cells. The kit includes Alizarin Red Solution, a staining solution which can be used to visually detect the presence of mineralization in bone tissue. Also included are reagents for performing quantitative analysis on a standard microplate reader. Enough reagents are provided to perform 48 assays in 24-well plates.
Kit Components
  • Alizarin Red S
  • Acetic Acid
  • Ammonium Hydroxide
  • ARS Dilution Buffer
MC3T3-E1 after 15 days of osteogenic differentiation.

Cells readily differentiate to a mature osteoblastic lineage as indicated by Alizarin Red staining (bottom). Alizarin Red staining was not observed in untreated MC3T3-E1 cells (top). The presence of Alizarin Red staining demonstrates mineral deposition throughout the culture.
