MILLIPORE ACQUIRES SEROLOGICALS

We are pleased to announce that on July 14, 2006, Millipore Corporation completed its acquisition of Serologicals Corporation.

Millipore, a leader in important market segments such as laboratory water, sample preparation, and chromatography and filtration, has long been known for its strong global sales force, outstanding customer support, and best-in-class quality systems. With the addition of Serologicals, we are expanding our reach into exciting and rapidly growing markets such as drug discovery products and services, nuclear function, and stem cell research.

The combination of Millipore and Serologicals will provide more value to our customers. By combining Millipore’s technical resources and global reach with Serologicals’ talented R&D organization and broad product portfolio, we will be able to bring exciting new innovations to the customers faster. These combined capabilities enhance Millipore’s ability to help customers accelerate the movement of critical therapeutic drugs from the lab to the marketplace.

Serologicals’ Chemicon, Upstate and Linco business divisions and subsidiaries will operate within Millipore’s Bioscience Division. Celliance, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Serologicals, will now operate within Millipore’s Bioprocess Division. All will operate under the company name of Millipore.

If you were a customer of Millipore before the transaction, you can expect the same great customer support and responsiveness that you have received for many years. If you were a customer of Serologicals, you can expect to continue to see new and differentiated products that add value and improve your efficiency.

Millipore will now be able to offer customers a broader range of reagents and kits that can be used in protein identification, drug discovery, antibody development and manufacturing, molecular biology, and stem cell research; as well as water purification and general filtration. Additionally, we will extend our process expertise in monoclonal antibodies and recombinant proteins by gaining important offerings in upstream biopharmaceutical production.

The broadening of our Bioscience and Bioprocess product portfolios will enable us to provide an increased number of applications and protocols. We will also be able to make new investments that will expand our technical expertise and global presence. We expect to extend our leadership in important segments, such as recombinant human insulin for cell culture applications in the biotech industry.

Plans are underway to integrate the combined organization in the most effective and efficient way possible, using a collaborative approach that leverages the strengths of both companies. As a customer-focused organization, the nearly 5,800 worldwide employees of the new Millipore organization are dedicated to ensuring that daily interactions with our customers go smoothly.
