Top Lab in India Relies on Millipore’s Elix® Water System to Maintain High Quality Results

Billerica, Massachusetts --- March 6, 2007 --- WellspringTM–Dr. Avinash Phadke Pathlab and Diagnostics, owned by Nicholas Piramal India Limited (NPIL), is part of India’s largest chain of pathology and diagnostic service providers. The chain performs more than four million pathology tests every year. The lab meets the stringent quality standards required by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration of Laboratories (NABL). The Randox system used by Dr. Phadke and his colleagues allows for on-board sample dilution and includes an on-board cuvette washing system. In a clinical setting such as this, a false reading could lead directly to a false diagnosis that would negatively impact a patient’s health. While water passing through the Elix module is purified, ion exchange resins are continuously regenerated via an electrical current applied within the module itself. This process only requires a very low amount of water and energy, and needs no special maintenance or chemical regeneration that would deteriorate the resin beads.
