Millipore Corporation Successfully Resolves Patent Infringement Suit Against Amesil, Inc.

Billerica, Massachusetts—March 2, 2007—Millipore Corporation announced today that it has successfully asserted its U.S. Patent No. 6,779,575 in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey against acts of infringement by Amesil, Inc. of Oak Ridge, New Jersey, and has obtained a consent judgment issued by the Court against Amesil.

As stated in the consent judgment, Amesil admitted infringement of Millipore’s patent-in-suit, agreed to be permanently enjoined from making, having made, using, offering for sale, selling, or importing into the United States, its ACS-9000 model of crimper tool device, its re-designed version of the ACS-9000 model, any substantially similar functional imitations of the “jaw” components of the foregoing, or any of the preferred embodiments disclosed in the Millipore patent-in-suit. Amesil also agreed to pay an undisclosed sum of money to Millipore in satisfaction of the terms of settlement of the underlying infringement suit.
Millipore’s patent-in-suit relates to its NovaSeal™ crimping device, part of Millipore’s Mobius™ suite of disposable filtration and purification products for the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industry. The NovaSeal crimping device is unique; the device crimps and cuts a sealing sleeve and tube at the same time in a simple motion. This sleeve/tube combination along with the crimping tool provides users with a sterile means for cutting and isolating various components of a disposable assembly, such as the NovaSeptum® sampling system.
