Millipore Corporation and Burnham Institute of Medical Research to Conduct Human Stem Cell Training Workshops
Billerica, Massachusetts --- June 18, 2007 --- Millipore Corporation today announced the development of training workshops in human stem cell research in conjunction with the Burnham Institute for Medical Research. This unique collaboration between a commercial entity and a research institute is the first of its kind and will offer four-to-five day workshops held at least once per quarter. The workshops will be conducted by a team of Millipore, Burnham Institute and independent stem cell specialists.
As sole sponsor of the workshops, Millipore will work with the Burnham Institute to develop, organize and execute the trainings. New stem cell users from around the world will have direct access to leading stem cell technologies, researchers and hands-on experience. The workshops will feature laboratory experiments as well as technical seminars given by prominent scientists in the field. The Burnham Institute will host the workshops at its campus in La Jolla, California, the first of which is tentatively scheduled for September 2007.
