Filter Protection

Prefiltration is a critical process step that extends the life of your more expensive (final) filter by reducing bioburden and removing unwanted particles earlier in the process. The right prefiltration selection must yield the desired product quality as well as be the most efficient and cost-effective solution for your application. Prefilters are recommended in applications where 100% retention of contaminants above a specified pore size is not required. If used as final filters, a non-fiber releasing, membrane-like prefilter is recommended.

Millipore offers a wide range of cartridges and capsules to meet a variety of applications. In addition, we can help you select and size the most appropriate prefilter to meet your specific needs.

Milligard pleated cellulosic multimedia filters offer the finest prefiltration levels available, providing unsurpassed protection of the final sterilizing filter from premature plugging. Milligard filters are ideal for cell culture media, mammalian cell culture, buffer preparation, serum, SVP, LVP and plasma protein applications.

Polysep II pleated multimedia filters combine borosilicate glass fiber with mixed esters of cellulose to provide higher retention efficiency for more critical degrees of prefiltration. Ideal for cell culture media, serum, buffer preparation, LVP and ophthalmic applications.

Lifegard pleated prefilters with borosilicate glass microfiber media offer increased adsorptive capacities. An excellent solution for deformable particle retention, Lifegard prefilters are ideal for plasma protein, serum and vaccine production.

Clarigard high performance polypropylene depth filters are comprised of fine diameter polypropylene fibers within an optimized graded density structure. The resulting cartridge filter provides superior retention of particulate and bioburden as well as enhanced throughput capacity. Ideal for facilities, beverage, media, and bulk chemical filtration applications.

Polygard-CN polypropylene filters provide high retention efficiency, high flow rates, and high dirt-holding capacity with a melt-blown medium fabricated in a pleated format. These filters are best suited for fine clarification applications such as facilities water, beverage and bulk chemical filtration that require broad chemical compatibility.

Polygard-CR polypropylene depth filters offer moderately high retention efficiency, high flow rates, and high dirt-holding capacity by virtue of a graded density of concentrically wrapped media. These filters are best suited for course clarification applications such as facilities water, beverage and bulk chemical filtration that require broad chemical compatibility.

Polygard-CT polypropylene depth filters provide moderate retention efficiency, high flow rates, and high dirt holding capacity by virtue of their unique density of concentrically wrapped media. These filters are best suited for facilities water and bulk chemical filtration applications.

Millistak+ DE charged stacked depth filters are composed of a broad range of controlled porosity graded density depth media housed in chemically stable polypropylene. Millistak+ DE filters provide increased contaminant holding and are ideal for the prefiltration of bioreactor fluids, serum, media, plasma protein, and beverages.

Millistak+ HC stacked depth filters were specifically designed for mammalian cell fermentation processes. A unique combination of charged media and cellulosic membrane, Millistak+ HC filters compress multiple steps into one high-performance solution that saves time and resources.

Millistak+ CE stacked filters are composed of a blend of cellulose fibers suitable for course filtration in the 1 to 30 micron range. These filters are ideal for clarification and prefiltration of bioreactor fluids, serum, media, plasma protein, and beverages where high concentrations of colloidal contamination dictates the need for high surface area depth media with a positive charge.

Millistak+ A activated carbon impregnated media charged stacked filters were designed for decolorization and the removal of trace containments. This filter offers a clean, convenient alternative to conventional carbon treatment stirring tanks.
