Overview (TRTFF02 - Two - day course)
Using a combination of theory and hands-on instruction, you will learn the key tangential flow filtration (TFF) procedures to increase process efficiency, quality and consistency as well as to ensure reproducible TFF separation. This two-day course covers the central elements of TFF including installation, sanitization and integrity testing and post-TFF procedures such as cleaning, cleaning assessments and storage.

- Successfully run a TFF process including module maintenance.
- Assess the integrity of TFF modules.
- Measure Normalized Water Permeability (NWP) to assess module cleaning effectiveness.
- Understand and execute your cleaning protocol.

The course is designed primarily for production personnel who are responsible for running TFF processes for biopharmaceutical molecules.
Hands-on practical section
The practical element of this course covers how to:
- Perform manual and automatic integrity test of TFF modules.
- Perform standard cleaning procedures.
- Measure normalized water permeability (NWP).
- Troubleshooting using real case studies.
Day 1 * 9:00 – 17:30
- Welcome.
- Introduction to TFF.
- Basic TFF operation.
- Laboratory session.
- TFF modules integrity testing.
- Cleaning TFF modules and practical applications.
- Method to determine cleaning effectiveness.
- Laboratory session to measure integrity and NWP.
*Includes two coffee breaks and lunch both days.
Day 2 *8:30 – 17:00
- Laboratory session and NWP troubleshooting exercise.
- Practical certification for integrity and NWP measurements.
- Visit to the TFF and chromatography manufacturing plant (if the course is held at EMD Millipore’s Molsheim facility).
- Demonstration of an automatic integrity test.
- Integrity testing troubleshooting exercises.
- Conclusion.
