Human Embryonic Stem Cell Research

In 1998, the first population of human embryonic stem cells was successfully isolated and grown in culture. In the recent years since this phenomenal discovery, evidence has emerged that these unique stem cells have the capability of generating almost any cell in the specialized body, and therefore hold the promise of being able to repair or replace cells that are damaged by many devastating diseases and disabilities.

Millipore is committed to advancing research in this exciting area. We developed the first commercially available, defined, animal component-free medium for hES cells. In addition, our integrated solutions for stem cell researchers include a unique range of optimized hES media, hES cell lines, characterization kits and novel, proprietary markers.
NEW Xeno-Free Human Foreskin Fibroblasts

These cells are derived from human neonatal foreskins under completely xeno-free conditions, and are ideal for supporting hES/hIPS cell culture, or as starting material for reprogramming.
