Mesenchymal Stem Cell Research

Mesenchymal stem cells are defined as a self-renewing population of adherent, bone-marrow-derived multipotent progenitor cells with the capacity to differentiate into several mesenchymal cell lineages. In defined in vitro assays, mesenchymal stem cells have been shown to readily differentiate into lineage-specific cells that form bone, cartilage, fat, tendon, and muscle tissues. Mesenchymal stem cells also provide support and maintenance for the other major stem cell population in the bone marrow, the hematopoietic stem cells.

Millipore provides a broad range of mesenchymal stem cell products for the expansion, differentiation and characterization of mesenchymal stem cells. These products include human mesenchymal stem cells, primary rat mesenchymal stem cell lines, optimized media for expansion and cryopreservation, kits to differentiation the cells into osteocytes and adipocytes, and characterization antibodies and kits.

Cryopreserved Rat Mesenchymal Stem Cells

Isolated from the bone marrow of adult Fisher 344, these primary rat mesenchymal stem cells can be easily cultured and are multipotent.

Human Mesenchymal Stem Cells

Millipore’s Human Mesenchymal Stem Cells are derived from human bone marrow and are able to efficiently differentiate into adipocytes and osteocytes.
