Primary Mouse Embryo Fibroblasts

Many embryonic stem (ES) cell culture protocols use a monolayer of primary mouse embryo fibroblast (PMEF) feeder cells. Feeder cells perform two important roles in stem cell culture: they secrete several important growth factors into the medium, which help maintain pluripotency, and they provide a cellular matrix for ES cells to grow.

The EmbryoMax range of PMEF cells provides researchers with a convenient solution for ES cell culture by eliminating the need for time consuming feeder cell isolation and preparation. Derived from day 13 embryos, these cells are frozen into individual vials, containing approximately 5-6 x 106 fibroblasts per vial, and are sold as a pack of 5 vials and supplied at passage 3 (2-3 populations doublings per passage). Several varieties are available, including drug resistant, growth arrested, and not mytomycin-C treated feeder cells.

EmbryoMax Neomycin Resistant PMEF Cells

Millipore provides quality neomycin resistant PMEF feeder cells for the maintenance and selection of transfected neomycin resistant mouse embryonic stem cells.

EmbryoMax CF-1 PMEF Cells

Isolated from CF-1 inbred mouse strain, these non-drug resistant PMEF cells have been used as feeder layers for both human and mouse embryonic stem cells.
