| Filtration technology designed to remove conventional virus particles1 was tested for removal of PrPSc and TSE infectivity from a model protein solution. Western blot assay and animal bioassay demonstrated at least a 4.0 log reduction of PrPSc and infectivity after filtration. Partitioning of PrPSc was not affected by protein concentration or in the presence of detergents while processed in a tangential or a normal flow mode. These data indicate size exclusion filtration of biological products has the potential to significantly reduce the risk of TSE transmission. Click the PDF above for the entire poster. | |
