| Caspase enzymes play a central role in the apoptotic cell death process.1,2 Caspases (cysteinyl-directed aspartate-specific proteases) form a family of enzymes3 that initiate the apoptotic cascade (caspase-2, -8, -9, -10), carry out cellular breakdown (-3, -6, -7) and process cytokines (-1, -4, -5, -11 to 14).
